yes, you can use them. these carbs are different than DCOE. the primary difference is that they use a diaphragm pump mechanism. I think Weber was asked to make a copy of the Dellorto carburetor for a project.

I'm using three 40DCOM carbs on a vintage Alfa Romeo inline six (2600cc) and I have spent a lot of time learning about them so I could jet them correctly. (Helps to know DCOEs first.) As far as I can determine the DCOM was made for the Peugeot 205, twin carb version, and I don't know what else. Anyhow, they're not such a problem if you already own them - - otherwise it might be best to buy DCOEs since there's much more experience and information out there.

Having said that I do have one problem with one of the DCOM carbs (bought used), and that is one of the idle air balancing screws is stuck and I cannot adjust it. Solvents won't budge it. That cylinder shows HUGE vacuum when I hook up a mercury column. Now I've discovered that cylinder is not firing at idle, however the progression holes are clear. Hence I have a progression hesitation caused by that cylinder. I have overjetted to lessen it, but that's not the right solution. It is so difficult to get the carbs and the manifold off the engine... I would like to see a diagram of that idle air circuit, like the Weber drawings of old that show how each circuit works in each carburetor. Does anyone out there have, or know of, such a drawing for the DCOM and can lead me to it online? Thanks.

Mr. Goose
