Comming to the end of my Tiger Avon build fitted with fuel injected 1.8 Zetec and Webcon Alpha management. need help with problem of rough running, the engine will not idle smoothly and only at about 500RPM (have tried adjusting TPS with limited success ) therefore engine keeps stalling. Also when the throttle is held open the engine RPM fluctuates or hunts and will not run at a stable RPM. It also has a tendancy to backfire on startup. I live in South Wales, can anyone tell me where is the nearest place that can sort the problem out.
Thanks

| Colin. The problem is 99% likely to be the bodies need balancing. Is it a new kit? If so then the instructions cover balancing the bodies. If you dont have the instrcutions please call Andy in Webcon technical on 01932 750203 and he will email you a set |

Hi, thanks for the reply. Not currently running throttle bodies but standard ford inlet manifold therefore only single standard ford throttle body. Have spoken to Tiger about this problem and they think the problem is a mis match of the throttle body / TPS / software as the part No. on the parts I have are not the ones stated in Webcon instalation manual. They have come accross this problem before and are going to send me replacements, hopefully this will solve the problem.
Just to confirm my suspicions I took the car to my local MOT station to check the emission and its running way rich..
Anyway thanks again for the reply but would still be interested in where I could take the car to get it checked / setup when its finally running properly.

Colin. An updated list of our Alpha dealers is now on our website here http://www.webcon.co.uk/alpha/dealers.htm
The ECU will be calibrated for a specific throttle body/TPS combination and use of different parts will almost certainly result in poor running. If you stick to the recommended parts then it should run perfectly. |

Quick update, replacement inlet and throttle body arrived and fitted. Butterfly valve much larger in diameter, engine now running as it should. Thanks for the help.
