Hi, I've recently inherited a pair of DCOE carbs, manifold and alpha ecu but am a little stuck.

The carbs have already had the throttle linkage kit assembled (and as far as I'm aware have been used succesfully in the past) but I'm having issues with it.

Part of the linkage fouls the inlet manifold, not enabling the butterflies to fully close.
It's the part of the linkage that joins the 2 carbs together, it doesn't clear the centre webbing on the inlet manifold and is beginning to make me feel like an idiot!!

Does anyone have a copy of the fitting instructions for the throttle linkage kit - maybe there will be some clues in there?

Cheers for any help.

no but

the linkage between carbs can be fitted 180 degrees round as well
the shaft is flatted. trouble is this is the oposite end from the throttle stop so undoing the nut risks twsited throttle shaft....nasty
to do it properly you would take out the throttle butterfly. (impact driver and yes it will rip off the mashed over ends of the screws)
grip the shaft as close to the wall of the bore with long nose pliers with a chunk of copper sheet to act a soft jaw for the pliers, don't crush the slot for the butterfly and undo the nut.

or try with the butterflys in.. think you can do it with a long enough jaw to the plier after you dis engage the throttle return spring, as you don't want to be working against that.

take off the spacer and the shaft linker and put it on 180 round put back spacer washer and nut locking tab. bend it bck to lock nut.

do the same on the other carb
new screws for the throttle disks and supporting the screw head from the rear on a big bolt or similar, i use a thin stand from my metal bashing set. smack the ends of the threads over with a fat punch. clean up any raggies with a small stone in ya dremmel

if that sounds like too much adventure for 1 day

buy two phenolic spacers or nick some off an alfa with side draught carbs next time you spot one at the breakers yard dremmel them to the size for ya carbs.

that will lift both carbs away from the manifold by 4-5mm

and also have benefit of keeping them cooler

remember paper/card gaskets for both sides of the spacer
or use a soft mount kit between carb and spacer.
may also need longer studs/shorter ramtubes or filters depending on application and space

these phenolic spacers were OEM fitment on Alfas at least and provided they are not cracked are excellent if you have fuel boiling problems

I had this problem, but I just ground away that part of the inlet manifold that was fouling the linkage! Smile
